A small studio making very few, very heavy things.
(01) — Why we exist
Fashion taught us to replace. We wanted to repair. So we started making essentials — garments engineered to be worn every day, patched, re-dyed and passed on — until the idea of a new season feels a little absurd.

- 2019A rail in a Kreuzberg basementMara Okonkwo sells twelve hand-cut parkas to friends. All twelve come back for repairs. None are returned.
- 2020The first numbered runEssentials 01 — three pieces, 300 of each. It sells out in nine hours.
- 2022Atelier in PortoWe move production to a family-run factory we can visit by train.
- 2023Repairs for lifeEvery Elio garment ever made becomes repairable, for free, forever.
- 2024Tokyo AoyamaOur second flagship opens behind a steel door with no signage.
- 2026Essentials 04Twelve pieces. One wardrobe. You’re looking at it.
